Over the past year, we lost three stalwarts of English/British Correspondence chess.
Chris Shephard a member of the GB team that won the Olympiad and represented both GB and England in numerous events.
Andrew Dearnley who held various posts in both the EFCC and ICCF
Toni Helliwell who was one of the strongest female players in the world.
The EFCC has permission to hold three separate Memorial events and has made generous funds available.
The events are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of the year, and they will all have classical time limits of 10 moves in 50 days.
The details are as follows.
Shepherd category 9/10 prize money £500/£350/£150
Helliwell category 7/8 prize money £300/£200/£100
Dearnly Category 7/8 Prize Money £300/£200/£100
All prizes require at least a +1 minimum score (will be split if places are equal after all ICCF tie breaks are applied)
We would like to include one player for each event from your Federation.
Minimum grades: Shepherd 2426; Halliwell & Dearnley 2400
